Info Select for Mac with Snow Leopard

by David Saunders on August 31, 2009

I wrote previously about Installing Info Select 8 on your Mac using Crossover for Mac by CodeWeavers. Over the weekend, I upgraded to Apple’s latest version of Mac OS X, “Snow Leopard.” It looks great!

In order to use Crossover for Mac, though, you must upgrade to the latest version (8.0.1 as of this post). As always, the process was very simple to do:

  • Download the latest version of Crossover for Mac from CodeWeavers.
  • Open up the disk image that you just downloaded.
  • Drag the Crossover icon into your Applications folder (the main one, not the one under your user name).
  • Run Crossover the first time, and it will update your old files for use in the new version.

Crossover InstallationThat’s all there is to it!

Everything worked perfectly for me the first time. Info Select loaded up as usual. It’s hard to say whether or not there are any differences in performance. The load time seems to be the same. Once you have Info Select loaded, everything is lightning-quick, anyway.

If this helped you, please share!

Thank you so much for posting this! Ability to use InfoSelect is the one thing that has been making me hesitate to buy a MacBook since I spend most of my time in InfoSelect!

I asked MicLogic about compatiblity and the best I could get out of their tech support is that it MAY be compatible in Windows Emulation!.

Hi David,

You helped me about 2 years ago & now I’m wondering :
Are you are using the current Crossover 9?
Have you tried the InfoSelect 10 beta?
I’d be grateful for any comment you may care to make as your experience has been really helpful always.

regards, Terry

Hi Terry,

Thanks for the comment.
I am using the latest Crossover 10 (10.0.3).
I am still using InfoSelect 8 (nearly daily).

I have had no problems whatsoever in keeping Crossover up to date.
I have been tempted to try InfoSelect 10 beta, but haven’t taken the time. I probably should, but I doubt that I will get the time before the end of the summer.

If you should try it, please let me know how it goes!

Thanks,
David

Hi Renjith, I am currently using Crossover with Lion on a MacBook Pro. This computer was upgraded from Snow Leopard to Lion.

You MUST be using Crossover 10.1.x or later. See http://www.codeweavers.com/products/crossover/requirements/
for the requirements page.

Did you upgrade to Lion, or was it an original installation of Lion?

I’m now using Crossover Version 11.2 with Mountain Lion (OS X 10.8). It’s all working just the same as it always has.
