One Starbucks Visit Leads to Leadership Reminders

October 25th, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Business, Cafes, Think

In just one 5-minute stop, Marla and I observed leadership in action while we sipped on hot coffee. Leadership comes naturally to Jeremy at Starbucks in the Gardens Mall (Palm Beach Gardens, Florida). Nothing very complicated happened, but that one trip reminded us of the importance of the small things we do that make a huge difference in the overall outcome of our endeavors.

At Coffee Shop Journal, Marla has committed our experience to her journal. It is a quick read, full of takeaways for your business.

You don’t want to miss it. Just five quick points to ponder!

October 2nd, 2008 | No Comments | Posted in Think

I just downloaded WordPress for iPhone. This is the first post written from my iPhone using the App.

I am sure that since over 100,000 people have downloaded it, if you have a blog powered by WordPress and have an iPhone, you are already using this App.

I will post my impressions once I have had more time to use it.

Is anybody else using it? This is Version 1.1.

    October 1st, 2008 | 1 Comment | Posted in Think

If you are interested in helping Haiti in a trustworthy and tangible way, please consider donating to Samaritan Air. Today (October 1, 2008), they are sending a helicopter to Haiti to move medical supplies and other necessities to the people of Haiti that cannot be reached by road.

I personally know the founders of this non-profit organization. Brian and Robin Parker have been dear friends for more than 15 years. They have many friends and partners in the organization, all of whom are dedicated to serving people in need. You can trust them to use your gifts wisely and completely in the weeks ahead to help restore the precious people of Haiti.

The short video shows and tells the story. The Pay-Pal link makes it easy for you to support them. Please visit them now. And please support this charity with a gift today.

    UPDATE October 5, 2008:
Due to en-route weather problems, the flight to Haiti was delayed until today. Here is the text I received just moments ago:

This is worthy of our support. Thanks everybody!

    Hurricane Ike

The predicted path for Hurricane Ike has changed several times over the past few days. The forecasts are all over the map. The latest path shows it rounding the tip of Florida, cutting through Key West and the lower Keys. Keep an eye on this one with the latest updates from the National Hurricane Center.

Always check for the latest: Ike’s Path (National Hurricane Center)

As I noted in my previous post, storm path predictions are, well, unpredictable. In certain situations, the forecast path of a storm is very difficult plot with any degree of accuracy. And Hurricane Ike is in that situation. The models diverge from each other, and the forces that steer such a storm are unpredictable themselves. So we watch and see. At best, we will feel the effects of the outer bands of Ike, but fortunately, it looks like the eye (and the strongest winds that surround it) will not hit us directly.
